Step into Copenhagen, where fairy-tale charm and cutting-edge design converge in a city of colourful harbors, royal palaces, and an unparalleled sense of hygge – the art of embracing life’s simple pleasures, to create a feeling of coziness, contentment, and well-being.

Explore some favourite destinations in Copenhagen!

Nyhaven
Along the harbour are colourful, 17th century row houses, historic ships and a lively atmosphere with restaurants and cafes.
This is a perfect spot to start your day with a coffee, sit for a bite to eat by the water or go for a stroll in the evening.

Tivoli Gardens
One of the world’s oldest operating amusement parks, Tivoli Gardens features rides as well as beautiful gardens along with restaurants and cafes. The gardens transform into a magical Winter Wonderland during the holiday period with twinkling lights, decorations and a Christmas market.

Coffee in the Square
Scattered throughout Copenhagen squares and parks, you’ll find charming little coffee shops housed in what looks like old wooden newsstands. These quaint kiosks offer coffee, pastries during the day and wine in the afternoons and evenings

The Sauna Culture
Along the waterfront are many saunas where the Danish enjoy relaxing through a good sweat, followed by a dip into the ocean afterwards. If you’re interested in experiencing this Danish tradition, check out La Bachina, CopenHot, Glaecier or JustSauna.

Shopping Areas
Copenhagen offers a variety of outdoor shopping experiences, with Stroget being the most prominent, known as Europe’s longest pedestrian-only shopping street. Go for a stroll, window shop and take in some of the cafes. Besides Stroget, other notable areas include the Latin Quarter and the TorvehallmeKBH market hall.

Design
Museum
Situated in a magnificent rococo building, Designmuseum Danmark displays danish design from well known artists such as Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Kaare Klint. I loved walking through the exhibit to review the history of Scandanavian furniture design throughout the years.

The Little Mermaid
Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, this famous bronze statue is a symbol of Copenhagen. This is in a slightly remote area by the water and I recommend taking the hop on/hop off bus if you’re interested in visiting this iconic statue.

Christiansborg Palace
Located on the tiny island of Slotshoimen, this palace houses the Danish Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Supreme Court. Explore the Royal Reception Rooms and climb the tower for a panoramic view of the city.

Have a drink by the Water
There are many outdoor food markets throughout Copenhagent to experience. I travelled to Christianhaven to explore Broens Street Food Market and enjoyed having a drink and great food by the water.
